Day 1 : Marrakech – Tichka pass – Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Gorges of Dades
From Marrakesh ‘ red city ‘ Towards Ouarzazate, we will pass through the mountains of the High Atlas , natural rampart in the south of imperial city of Marrakech this is one of the most beautiful mountain roads in Morocco, his pass “Tichka” rises to 2260m is considered as the highest road pass in the country. Arrival in the famous Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, declared by UNESCO in 1987 as World Heritage and saw the filming of several major films such as “ Laurence of Arabia” , “Jesus Nazareth” , “Gladiator”,…etc. After a visit to the Kasbah we take lunch and we go to Ouarzazate ” Door of the desert ” a quiet and peaceful town that extends to 1600 m altitude in the middle of a desert plateau contrasting landforms and vegetation of the High Atlas. Leaving Ouarzazate and take the famous road of the 1001 Kasbahs to join the enormous palm grove of Skoura and to head for Kelaa M’gouna (the roses capital).Then we will take the scenic road to Boutghrar, with beautiful berber villages, in order to get to the Gorges of Dades where the night will be spent in a hostel at the beginning of the gorges.
Day 2 : Dades – Groges of Toudgha – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast, our destination will be the impressive gorges of Toudgha, with their cliff peaks of 300m looking like a huge cathedral from which the vault collapsed to let the sky appear. The rock layers reflect orange and mauve colors just like stained glass. On the road to Erfoud we meet small heaps of earth that belong to an old irrigation system, proving that this desert used to be fertil. Erfoud with it’s 40 Ksours and 700000 palm trees, as well as Merzouga’s sand dunes…: You will be happy to see all that beauty, however, it is another world, a mineral world where temperature is hard to put up with and where the sky covers people and things with an intense luminosity. Desert symphony. Once we reach Merzouga’s sand dunes, we leave the 4WD and we mount our dromedaries, heading to our tented camp to eat dinner and to spend the night under a million stars in the middle of the dunes.
Day3 : Merzouga – N’kob – Agdez – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After the sunrise and breakfast your camels will take you back to the hostel to take a small hot shower. We take the road to Nkob via Rissani (old economic capital of Morocco and first imperial city in the country’s history called Sijl Massa). Lunch in the palm grove of N’kob and continuation to Agdz via the famous Draa valley (more than 1.5 million palm tree), After resting in Agdz and drink a coffee we pass again via Ouarzazate and continue through the famous road of the High Atlas Mountains (2260m) to reach Marrakech.
