Day1: Marrakech – Tichka pass – Telouet – Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
From Marrakesh ‘ red city ‘ towards Ouarzazate, we will pass through the mountains of the High Atlas , natural rampart south of the imperial city of Marrakech. This is one of the most beautiful mountain roads in Morocco, it’s pass “Tichka” rising to 2260m, is considered to be the highest road pass in the country. Once arrived in Telouet, a visit is necessary to admire the famous Kasbah ” GLAOUI ”, the old Pasha of Marrakech. Lunch and continuation along the old caravan road who once came from Timbuktu. We join the famous Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, declared by UNESCO in 1987 as World Heritage and where several movies have been taken, such as “ Laurence of Arabia” , “Jesus of Nazareth” , “Gladiator”,…etc. After a visit of the Kasbah we will continue to Ouarzazate. Night in hotel.
Day2: Ouarzazate – Agdez Canyon – Zagora
The first part until Agdez(68 km), we will cross through landscapes of mountains with impressive cliffs and stone scree sometimes black and shiny. After the pass of Tizi N’Tnifite(1660m) the road go down to Agdez and join the Draa river, offering a beautiful view of the walled valley of countless Kasbahs and Ksour earthen. After Agdez we continue by the famous road to Zagora passing through the biggest palm grove in the world “Draa” 220 km length, 18 km of width and more than 1.500.000 palm tree. Get to Zagora Accommodation and dinner in your Hotel.
Day3: Zagora – M’hamid – Dunes of Chegaga
22 km from Zagora, on the road to M’hamid, Tamgroute is an old religious center very famous by his library where we can find Korans and manuscripts written on gazelle skins, also some pottery workshops still use the archaic ovens and natural colors. We continue to M’hamid, the last town before entering to the desert and we can buy something to make our picnic under the acacias tree. Arrive to the bivouac in the middle of the dunes, watch an unusual sunset, Dinner and night in nomads tents under the wonderfull stars.
Day4 : Chegaga – Dry lake of Iriki – Foum Zguid – Ouarzazate
After a night in the serenity of the desert and a magical sun rise we take again the sandy tracks until the dry lake of Iriki who was full of water till the fifties. Continuation by the track wild of Foum Zguid until Taznakhte the famous carpet weaving center, where we can discover some of the wonderful Berber carpets. Lunch and reach Ouarzazate. Dinner and accommodation in the Hotel.
Day5: Ouarzazate – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After the breakfast and before leaving, we will take the opportunity to visit the Ouarzazate city and the Kasbahs around as well as the famous cinema studios. Return back by the High Atlas road, crossing mountains and villages and arrive to Marrakech. End of the tour.
